Dr Fandi Ibrahim is an Associate Professor and Course Leader for the BSc (Hons) Nutrition and Human Health programme at the ºüÀêÊÓÆµ. He leads on curriculum design, quality assurance, and delivery of core modules across the undergraduate programme. He also plays a key role in maintaining the course’s accreditation by the Association for Nutrition (AfN) and is actively involved in course revalidation, student mentoring, and the development of graduate employability initiatives.
Dr Fandi Ibrahim is a Registered Nutritionist (RNutr) with the UK Voluntary Register of Nutritionists (UKVRN), a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, and an active member of several professional groups, including the Nutrition Society and the ºüÀêÊÓÆµ’s Health and Wellbeing group.
Dr Ibrahim is an internationally recognised expert in the field of functional foods and gut health. Prior to joining the ºüÀêÊÓÆµ, he worked as a Researcher at the Functional Foods Forum, ºüÀêÊÓÆµ of Turku, Finland, and as a Scientist with DuPont Nutrition and Health in Finland. With over 20 years of experience spanning academia and industry, Dr Ibrahim continues to bridge scientific research and applied practice in nutrition.
His recent research has focused on probiotics, dietary fibre, and gut microbiota. Notably, he led the development of the “5Ad Dietary Protocol for Functional Bowel Disorders”, a long-term evidence-based approach addressing dietary triggers of gut symptoms. Dr Ibrahim welcomes research collaborations that aim to explore the underlying physiological mechanisms in nutrition science.
He regularly presents at international conferences, has contributed to several public science communication initiatives including radio talks, and serves as a peer reviewer for scientific journals. He also currently holds an external examiner role at the ºüÀêÊÓÆµ of Northampton for their BSc (Hons) degree in Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine.

Dr Ibrahim currently teaches the following modules:

He is also responsible for supervising undergraduate research projects and has a strong interest in supporting students with research-led learning.
