Kay has over 25 years’ experience working within the higher education sector, including previous roles at the ºüÀêÊÓƵ of Essex, De Montfort ºüÀêÊÓƵ and the ºüÀêÊÓƵ of Hull.
Kay joined the ºüÀêÊÓƵ of Suffolk (then ºüÀêÊÓƵ Campus Suffolk) in 2013 to project manage the institution's successful application for Taught Degree Awarding Powers and ºüÀêÊÓƵ Title. Following several years working in the ºüÀêÊÓƵ's Quality team, Kay became the Head of Academic and International Partnerships in 2022. In March 2025, Kay began a two-year secondment in the Research and Knowledge Exchange Directorate, to lead the ºüÀêÊÓƵ towards achieving Research Degree Awarding Powers and making a more substantial submission to REF2029.
Kay possesses a first-class honours degree, a Master's degree and a PhD in the field of history.
